Kathon WT is also called CMIT/MIT-1.5F microbiocide. It is an active ingredient preparation of chloromethylisothiazolinone/ Methylisothiazolinone and formaldehyde to preserve paints, binder dispersions and other technical products.

Compatibility
CMIT/MIT-1.5F is compatible with most common binders. It is generally advisable to check compatibility prior to any application to a special case.

Application and Activity
CMIT/MIT-1.5F is a wet state preservative with a very wide application field such as paints, plasters, adhesives, inks, dispersion and emulsion binders and aqueous technical products.
Kathon WT microbiocide has a broad spectrum of activity. It is effective against gram-positive and gram-negative, aerobic and anaerobic bacteria as well as against mould and yeast.
Dosage
The number of technical products being preserved with CMIT/MIT-1.5F is increasing steadily and it is not always possible to predict its suitability. The optimum use should be established by a preliminary experiment. In critical cases, predilution with water is often helpful. The optimum dosage rate of Kathon WT depends upon the degree of contamination and the susceptibility of the product to be preserved.
Occasionally, the degree of contamination exhibits seasonal fluctuation, so that a periodical determination of germ counts can assist in choosing the optimum dosage rate.Therefore, the ranges of concentrationslisted below should be taken as general guidelines only:
Binders: 0.05 - 0.3%
Other products: 0.05 - 0.15%
Storage, Handling and Disposal

In general, avoid eye and skin contact, wear safety goggles, gloves and protective clothing.
In case of eye or skin contact despite precautionary measures, wash immediately and
thoroughly with plenty of warm water and obtain medical attention.
The legal requirements prevailing in your country, especially on working hygiene and in the avoidance of accidents, must be observed.
Kathon WT microbiocide should be stored in closed original containers in a cool place, but not below 0°C. At temperatures below 0°C solidification of the product may occur. If the product does freeze, allow it to return to room temperature and it will turn liquid again. Bioactivity is unaffected by freezing and melting.

Cmit/mit 14 is for acid, water soluble. CMIT/MIT with magnesium salt is stable. And CMIT/MIT with sodium salt isn’t stable.
